Holistic Philosophy – Body, Mind, and Spirit

Although many people think that they are a body with a spirit, in reality, we are a spirit inhabiting a body. We came to this planet Earth for one purpose – to raise our consciousness to recognize our eternal union with the Creator. We do it when we learn to live from love and not from fear.

To be in this third-dimensional world, we need a physical body. In turn, we create our experiences, which we call our life, through the mind and the thoughts that we hold regularly.

Therefore, you cannot lose perspective that you are body, mind, and spirit. Feeding these three areas is the foundation of the holistic philosophy. If you ignore any of them, you are incomplete. It doesn’t matter where you start as long as you include all three.

In his evolution as a human race, the human being has gone through different evolutionary stages. In some, he concentrated on the body, in others on the spirit, and in others on the mind. By this evolution, I mean millions of years.

We are in the last stage of the third dimension, where the planet and its inhabitants will rise, little by little, to the fifth dimension. To achieve this, we have to refine our bodies and cleanse our minds of all negativity, living primarily in love.

I will dedicate the following blogs to explain how we can help ourselves balance in mind, body, and spirit. I invite you to read them.

Invisible friends, pure imagination?

As children, did anyone have the experience of having an invisible friend? Or, do any of your children have or have had an invisible friend?

When we are born into this third-dimensional world, we come with what I call the veil of oblivion. That veil does not allow us to remember the previous experiences that our soul has lived. In this way, we can do the work that we came here to do of raising our consciousness without being distracted by past memories.

When a baby is born, there are two soft areas on the top of the head where the bones of the skull have not yet joined. These areas are called fontanelles.

From a physical point of view, this allows the baby’s head to move through the birth canal, which is very narrow. Little by little, the bones of the brain come together, and the fontanelles close.

From a metaphysical point of view, this allows the baby to still contact the higher planes since their veil is not entirely closed. Things being this way, children can see beings in other dimensions that adults do not see.

This “friend” helps the child in their emotional development. It is someone with them and someone who understands them. Parents should validate what they see, not criticize them or tell them that this friend does not exist.

I remember a two or three-year-old boy playing in his home, an apartment on the sixth floor. His grandmother came in, and he told her, very calmly, that a man had entered through the window and was with him for a while. The grandmother thought it could have been the grandfather, who had never met the child. He had just died, and she thought he came to see him before leaving for other dimensions. We’ll never know whether or not it was the grandfather, but that the child saw and described him, that did happen.

Like this one, I have heard many stories. I invite you to open your mind to the fact that there are many dimensions, and support children who have access to them. After the age of seven, the veil is entirely closed for almost everyone. Some people who have the joy of staying connected have a gift. We, as parents, must help them to cultivate it.

Reiki in hospitals

For many, many years, most people walked through life like robots. They worked or went to school during the day. They came, ate, were distracted by something, and went to sleep. The next day the same.

They took as true what was taught in schools or read or heard on the news. On Sundays, they went to church, and so the days, weeks, and years passed.

Little by little, humanity has been slowly awakening. Scientists already talk about quantum energy. Eastern spiritual beliefs were reaching the West. It is already normal to talk about yoga, meditation, acupuncture, and Reiki.

Lately, mainly at patients’ request, many hospitals are including Reiki treatments as part of alternative therapies.

The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) places Reiki therapy in the bio-field energy category. Bio-field energy is any electric or magnetic field produced by a biological organism. E.g., a human.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

• Releases repressed emotions.

• Increases our energy level, providing us with physical and emotional vitality.

• Causes a very pleasant state of relaxation, reducing or eliminating anxiety. A Reiki treatment helps a lot before and after surgery.

• Relieves physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual pain and suffering.

• Decreases the side effects of medications and treatments, such as chemotherapy.

Many years ago, a dear friend had cancer. The side effects of chemotherapy were horrible. When I found out, I offered him Reiki, and even though he thought I was crazy, because he trusted me, he allowed it.

Days later, he called me to tell me about the big difference in his well-being after chemotherapy. He said that the side effects were greatly diminished. He asked me if I could attune him and his wife to Reiki, so he could receive a Reiki treatment before and after the chemotherapy.

Eventually, my friend died. However, his quality of life through the end was vastly better than what he had before Reiki.

Before moving to California, the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL was looking for Reiki therapist. Also, in many hospitals, nurses and, even doctors are being attuned to Reiki.

I hope that people continue to wake up to this gentle but powerful therapy.

Reiki III – Master Level

(This is a continuation of the previous blog.)

When I attuned to Reiki, the process of becoming a teacher was quite expensive. Years passed, and the price went down. One fine day, my inner voice began to tell me to become a Reiki master. I had already committed myself to listen to that voice, no matter what it said to me.

I started looking for someone to teach me when I opened the newspaper and saw a one-page ad for a Puerto Rican Reiki teacher, Reinaldo Torres (R.I.P.) Reinaldo lived in Tampa and came to Puerto Rico to teach Reiki III or master classes. I called him in Tampa, and after a beautiful experience in his classes, I became a Reiki III master.

Reiki was brought to the West from Japan by Ms. Takata, of Japanese descent but a resident of Hawaii. She tried to have something so sacred be respected and valued in the United States, and the western world. In order to achieve this, Mrs. Takata established a series of rules about prices and initiations. I’m going to call this Traditional Reiki.

In Reinaldo’s class, I learned that over the years, Traditional Reiki was softening, and changing a bit. With Reinaldo, I learned to attune people in the traditional way that includes four attunements. Also, I learned how to attune with an additional symbol that allowed only one attunement. I had never heard of this before, so the question remained in my mind if that form worked.

Soon after, I went to my hometown, Ponce, and visited my sister. When I arrived, I found out that her husband was ill and was in a lot of pain. I told her that I had become a Reiki Master and could teach her to give Reiki to her husband to help him with his pain. She was my first student. I had never taught a Reiki class.

Since I was in a hurry, with a bit of apprehension, I decided to go with the single attunement system and prayed that it would work. After I attuned my sister to this extraordinary energy, I told her to practice giving Reiki to me so in case she had any questions I would be able to answer them.

In Reiki, the hands are placed with the fingers close together so that the energy doesn’t escape through the open fingers. After about five minutes, she asked me if it was indispensable to have the fingers together. I remember I told her that nothing was indispensable, just preferable, and I asked her why she was making that question. Her response, which amazed me, was, “it’s because I’m burning.”

Again, neither before nor after had I heard such a thing. I thanked my Reiki guides because I’m sure they wanted to let me know that this new way of attunement worked very well. Since then, that is the one I use in my classes.

It is wonderful to know that if we learn to listen to the messages, our inner voice or spiritual guides direct us at every moment.

Reiki and Children

Reiki is so simple that it can be taught to children. Many years ago, I attuned my great-nephew to Reiki energy. At that time, he was around five years old. Since I love children, I had learned a simple and fun way to teach them at their level. The name of the course is Reiki Kids.

I remember telling him that intention was like the light switch for the Reiki energy to start flowing through his hands. You think about Reiki, and the energy will begin to flow through your little hands, I said. Maybe, they will get hot.

Shortly after finishing, his mother came to get him. I saw them already in the car when suddenly I heard his little voice at the door. Titi Yve, titi Yve, he called. When I opened the door, he told me, screaming with emotion, “This works, I thought of Reiki, and now my hands are very warm.” And that’s how beautiful my first experience teaching a child was.

Years later, when I moved to Florida, I had my classes with groups of children from five to twelve years old. I remember that the ad said from nine to twelve when I received a call from a mother who told me that her five-year-old girl wanted to take the class. Upon reflection, I decided that if she was interested enough to ask her mom to call me, it was because she was ready. Needless to say, she was the one who asked more questions and participated the most in the class.

I had the honor of attuning my four grandchildren to Reiki. The innocence of children makes all these things very natural to them.

A year ago, I moved to California in the middle of the pandemic. I have not started teaching my classes yet. Who knows if one of these days I shake myself off and start over.  Meanwhile, I am delighted to write about my experiences.

Reiki and childbirth- a beautiful experience

Who would like to give birth without feeling horrible pain? I would have loved it, but I didn’t know that Reiki existed when I had my children.

When I went to Georgetown Law University to get a master’s degree, I was outside of Puerto Rico for a while. When I returned, I didn’t know that my friend Carmen was pregnant.

Since things happen when they have to, I locked my apartment door with the keys inside. My friend, Margarita, who had keys, was not arriving until late at night. Since I had the car keys in my pocket, I visited my sister’s mother-in-law, who lived near me. To my surprise, her immediate neighbor and niece, Carmen, was giving birth at her home with midwives.

When Carmen saw my car through the window, she asked me to come to see her. While I was standing next to her, an inner voice told me to put my hands on her belly. I asked Carmen if she knew what Reiki was, and she said no, but that she trusted me to do whatever I wanted.

I had never given Reiki in childbirth before but decided to follow my intuition. Following my inner voice, I put my hands on her lower belly. About five minutes later, she told me, “Hey Yve, I no longer feel pain where your hands are, just the muscles contracting.” I felt panic. I thought that I had paralyzed the labor and didn’t know how to activate it again. I commented on it to the midwives, who told me that nobody would stop the delivery to continue with Reiki.

I went back to Carmen and asked her where it hurt. She told me it was above where I had removed the previous pain, so I put my hands there.

To make a long story short, I spent the entire labor giving her Reiki, and she was pain-free and relaxed. She just felt the muscles contracting. Finally, her baby was born, and it was the most beautiful experience I have ever had giving Reiki. Carmen was so impressed that when I started as a Reiki teacher, she was my second student.

And How Did I Reach the Second Level?

(This is a continuation of the previous blog.)

And how did I reach the second level of Reiki?

Some years after my Reiki I initiation passed. I was going to New York with friends to take some courses. When I went to say goodbye to my parents, I noticed that my dad had what looked like a golf ball above his elbow. I asked, and my mom told me that the doctor had treated everything and would operate on him next week. I told them that I did something called Reiki and I could put my hands on him to see if I could help him. My dad thought I was crazy, but my mom insisted that he let me put them on for five minutes. I put my hands on “the ball” for five minutes, said goodbye, and left for New York.

When I got to the hotel, there was a message to call my mom. I was scared because I thought something terrible had happened. When I spoke to her, she told me, “Everything is fine; I wanted to let you know that the ball disappeared from your dad’s arm. They no longer have to operate it.

There is a purpose for everything in life. Treatments don’t always work so quickly. It all depends on how long the condition has existed, the lessons the person needs to learn, etc. The important thing is that you don’t have to believe in Reiki. You have to want to heal as Reiki does not violate free will.

The purpose for me was to help me believe what I couldn’t see with my eyes. Since that second experience, I have no doubt that this miraculous energy exists, and that in some way that I don’t understand, the energy enters my head and goes out of my hands to help me and others.

When I returned from New York, my dad told me that he wanted to pay for my second level of Reiki. I was so happy. I immediately started to look for a Reiki Master, when I found out that the Reiki Master that attuned me to Reiki I was back in Puerto Rico. I called her, and the rest is history.

Reiki, universal intelligent energy

When I think of something gently powerful, the first thing that comes to mind is Reiki. And you might think, so what is that? The word Reiki comes from two Kanjis or characters that are used in Japanese writing to express concepts. In this case, Rei means sacred, spirit, soul, divine, and Ki means energy. I call it God’s energy, which dwells in each one of us and everywhere.

Reiki is a thousand-year-old therapy by laying on of hands that balance the physical, emotional, and mental bodies. Reiki is not learned by reading a book. The ability to give Reiki is passed from a Reiki Master to the person who is being initiated. This is done in an attunement process or initiation. In the initiation, the channels in our hands are opened to allow the Reiki energy to flow through them.

Like everything related to Reiki, the initiation is a gentle and sacred process. Once you are initiated to Reiki, it is for life. Even if you haven’t used it in years, the energy is activated with sheer intention. It enters through the crown chakra and leaves through the hands, which feel warm once the Reiki begins to flow.

Contrary to other therapies by laying on of hands, when you do Reiki you are not using your own energy. You are a channel, like a hose is when water begins to flow. Therefore, your energy is not diminished, and you don’t attract the energies of the other person to you.

Reiki has three basic levels. The first level is by laying on of hands in certain positions of the body. You can do it to yourself or someone else.

The second level is Reiki at a distance. Here three symbols or Japanese kanjis are learned that serve various purposes, including sending Reiki from a distance, no matter where the person is.

The third level is the level of mastery that some teachers divide in two. Here the students are attuned to other symbols that allow th, in turn, to attune people who want to learn this ancient technique.

My experience with Reiki started quite early at the beginning of my spiritual quest. At that time, I was so hungry for knowledge that I would go wherever there was a class on any topic. So I took the first level of Reiki out of curiosity.

It wasn’t until months later when I was going through a difficult time that I decided to use Reiki to calm my emotions. As a lawyer, at that time I needed evidence to believe things. It’s as if my Reiki guides said, you need proof, well here it goes. About 15 minutes after putting my hands on my body in the Reiki positions, I began to feel a powerful energy that went in a circle from head to toe and rose from to toe to head. I have not felt energy this strong before nor after, but that convinced me that something was happening. From then on, I began to give myself Reiki treatments.

In the following blogs, I will continue to tell you about my experience and how I was initiated in the other levels until I reached the master’s level.

You are depriving me…

It is interesting to live with other people. If we are alert, we learn many things about ourselves. As I have mentioned in other blogs, we are always a mirror of each other.

When I was a child, my father would lie down reading, and any noise bothered him. Like children, my siblings and I played and made noises with our laughter and screams. My mother would come running and tell us to be quiet because we were bothering my father. After hearing that statement so many times, you can imagine that one of the thoughts that stayed in my mind is that I bother people.

In our walk through life, once we understand that what we see outside of us is, actually, a projection of our thoughts unto another person, the interactions become very interesting. We stop blaming others and start looking for the thought we are projecting. It’s like a detective game.

With that in mind, I’ll tell you about my latest experience. Carla, my daughter-in-law, works from home. She spends all day in the office. On many occasions, I have offered to help her with something. For example, putting her clothes in the washing machine or washing her dishes. She always answered me, no, thanks. I can do it later.

After listening to that for a long time, I decided to talk to her, and the conversation was most interesting. I said, Carla, why is it that that you never allow me to help you? Don’t you like other people touching your things? No, she answers me. It is that I think that I bother people, she answered me.

Here it is, I said to myself. My thought that I bother people, which I believed I had already healed, is reflected here. That showed me that there are still some lingering thoughts still rooted within me that I need to heal. If we can see our exchanges in this way, we see where we are in our process of fully awakening in consciousness.

But it did not stop there. After thinking for a few minutes about what Carla told me, I asked her if she did not feel happy when she helped someone, and she said that she did. Then I told her, well, you are depriving me of feeling happy when I do something for you.

To help each other in raising our consciousness, we agreed that if I offered to help her with something and she refused, I would tell her as a reminder: “You are depriving me.”

I invite you to see the exchanges in life in this way. It is much more exciting and less painful.

Trust the Universe

It is interesting to see how life brings us what we need at the precise moment. After living in Florida for 14 years, alone and happy since I adjusted to the fact that my husband had passed away, my youngest son, Pedro, and his wife, Carla, suggested that I sell my house, they would sell their apartment. Then, we would buy something appropriate so that they, my granddaughter, and I could live together. At first, I was shocked. How was I going to lose what I identified as my independence? One day I thought I would and another I changed my mind and would decide to stay in my house.

Pedro and Carla lived in Florida five minutes from my house when this happened, and the oldest, Juan C., had lived in Southern California for about 20 years. Without me having decided yet, Pedro got a job in Southern California, and they were all moving there.

I immediately decided to go with them, but I set some conditions of how the house needed a specific distribution to feel that I had my area separate from theirs.

For several months we were looking for a house to rent and there were always about ten people before us. Since Pedro had to be at his work, we decided to set off with the moving truck and our cars on the 5-day adventure driving across the United States.

We decided that when we got to California, we would stay in an Airbnb until we got a house, and at that point, it would be the first house we found. We just wanted a roof and rooms to sleep in.

A week before we started our adventure, a real estate broker called us about a house we had applied for, but someone had already rented. She told us that the contract with the previous person had fallen through and that the house was ours if we wanted it.

We immediately said yes without seeing it. When we arrived and saw the house, the house was exactly what we needed and that Carla and I had been visualizing. The first thing I thought when I saw it was, “why do you doubt if you know that the things you need are always given to you at the perfect time”?

Now we are together, but each has its space. My son’s family is on the second floor with three bedrooms and a loft, and I with my “suite” on the first.

If we could trust 100% in something superior to ourselves, let’s call it God, Supreme Intelligence, whatever, constantly giving us what we need, we would have a lot less stress in our lives. As our thoughts are our molds, in this case, it was the distribution of the house that Carla and I wanted, it is essential to be aware of what message we are sending to the Universe. The Universe always says yes. It does not analyze to see if it suits us or not. That is up to us.
